The former Hotel Elkhart operated in downtown Elkhart from 1923 until 1974 when a group of Mennonite organizations purchased this downtown landmark with the intent of providing luxury assisted-living apartments for the elderly. It later closed in 1996. Soon thereafter Mansur pruchased and redeveloped the building into 83 affordable senior apartments with the Elkhart Housing Partnership for $4.2 million. The building includes first floor retail, community area and management on the lower level, and two floors of office.
