The 32,946-square-foot mixed-use building has been co-developed with BOS Community Development Corporation and is valued at $3.5 million. The Madame Walker Urban Life Center, BOS Community Development Corporation, and Midtown Economic Development and Industrial Corporation own 500 Place. The project is 100% leased, with the Indiana University School of Optometry occupying the entire first floor and 500 square feet of the canal level. 500 Place is believed to be the first project of its type along "The Avenue" to involve significant African-American participation in every phase of the development process: financing, site acquisition, design, leasing, construction, management, and ownership. The total project cost was $3.5 million.
